Win 7 & Google

Hi there

Can anybody tell me how to stop Win 7 turning www.google.com into www.google.co.uk?

Each time I open IE8 and set www.google.com as my homepage it automatically goes to www.google.co.uk.

I want to view .com and it is deciding I must view .co.uk for some reason.

Do you have google toolbar installed and set to .co.uk?

It's not a win7 thing. It happens in XP, it happens in Vista.

It's Google redirecting due to geological location:

Ah, if I do a search in the toolbar it takes me to .com but if I open IE8 it takes me to .co.uk, even though in IE8 tools and internet options I have .com as my homepage. No matter, as long as the toolbar takes me to .com that is ok. Must be some regional settings it is using to presume I want .co.uk.

In XP I have never had this problem. Always takes me to .com. With Win 7 I can't seem to change it no matter what I type in IE8, tools , internet options, homepage it takes me to .co.uk. Win XP does not as far as I remember.

+1, it's not IE8.

Is it such a inconvience to just click the radio button below the search bar to select either .com or co.uk websites to search from?

I don't think you will see a difference in search results between co.uk and .com unless you ticked 'page from the uk'.

You could always use an iGoogle page as your default? That would work and is the way I have mine setup like
