Yep, killed all the unnecessary features with no change. Booted up the original 1.6 game and it's the same; super laggy which is frankly ridiculous when it's running on such an ancient gfx engine.

As suggested go for CS 1.6 it's still an epic games pretty much identical to CSS apart from the slowing down when shot. Also the new CSS update might be a reason for not being able to play. it's now been ported to the EP2 engine which makes it slightly harder to run than before.

Never the less play some good old 1.6/condition Zero/Deleted Scenes your laptop will beast them not to mention they are still well played online these days.

A few more details might be helpful as 'super laggy' could mean anything!

Run fraps for example and see if your just getting consistently low frame rates or if they are fluctuating all over the place. If frame rates are fine then try disabling v-sync in case there is some input lag making it feel worse than it is.
