Win 7 RC doesnt recognise external HDD's

Ive tried three different ypes. all the updates have been installed as well

It comes up in device manager but not in my computer

Are they actually formatted and ready?

Start > Type in format > Go to the Create and Format...

Initialise the disk and format it. Or assign a drive letter if they are already.

its not a windows 7 RC problem, i have several drives that work. as above or are they recognised in a different computer?

I have the exact same problem, It must be a Win7 RC problem.

300GB Western digital HHD does show as stated by OP. My 120Gb portable HDD shows up fine though.

I cannot format it as it is my time machine for my mac. any other suggestions??

my seagate 320gb drive works, had no problem and I've had to reformat it as it was set up on fat32, no problems for me.

although thinking about it a few small flash drives have been iffy but I've put that down to emf

right click my computer>mange>storage (iirc). see them there. if they're not prepped and given drive letters you won't see them. you had to do the same in vista and xp iirc.

this isn't a RC problem
