Is there such a thing as a free trial?

Wouldnt mind trying it on this system before i buy a new one if possible

Well if you install it without a serial key then it runs for 30 days before it makes you enter one. So I guess you could see that as trial?

You would have to get hold of an installation disc somehow though.

You can reset the thirty day timer up to three times, giving you a total of 120 days to evaluate Windows 7 ( or Vista ). Then it's reinstall time. Rinse and repeat.

Installation disk images are out there. Just make sure that the Sha1 / MD5 hash matches those published on MSDN / Technet.
