As mentioned ive been trying to install windows 7 on this system and it installs fine and then says monitor out of range...........

Ive booted into safe mode and changed it to the correct resolution and refresh rate. Reboot it and then it still says the same!

How ever if i plug in a HDMI lead and whack it into the tv the monitor comes to life! Unplug the TV and it goes again.

Its driving me nuts.

Its a old gigabyte ga 78lmt usb 3 mother board with a amd sempron 2800 on 4gb ram.

Ive reinstalled win 7 several times.

Sorry if its in the wrong place i wasnt sure where to put it.

Reduce the resolution to something really small, like 800*600 @ 60Hz on the TV. When it reboots, set the resolution desired by the screen.

As an aside, is it possible to have both the monitor and TV plugged in? Set the monitor to primary and use the TV to set it to it's proper resolution, then disconnect the TV.

Agree with this, sounds like you have to set vga to primary. Try using the advanced settings if the primary fails. Have you checked your bios to see if there are any settings on primary display?

Now tried it with windows 8 and I'm getting the same.boots up but as soon as it goes for the windows desktop,I'm back to out of range yet if I boot with the hd lead in connected to the TV its fine.it just don't remember the refresh rate !!!!!
