all i want is a mouse hover over the star to delay 2 seconds.

that way you have more chance to click on it, currently the delay is so small you can easily miss it and have to re-adjust.

Personally I hate the Start Screen and find it very awkward to use, and the Modern apps to be rubbish. Installed Start8 so yes it's basically now only an enhanced Windows 7, but the improvements are worthwhile IMO, especially as I only paid £6.15 for it.

the defrag now optimizes SSD's by trim commands
bootup/shutdown are much faster
uses less memory
new task manager

with everything installed I am using 1.8GB

in win7 I was using around 2.3GB and about 4-5GB cached

My page file was incredibly large too, I thought it was better to remove it or change it to around 500MB these days?

yeah, I don't see why everyone bangs on about it like it's the best feature of an OS and totally worth swapping for

I wasn't simply talking about boot times, that was my example, older systems are given a bit more time as the performance gains are better. I'm sure I've read about people getting performance gains within games too, nothing major though.

start8 is now just £3.20 just paid for it.

I f you want to change Windows 8 i,m puzzled as to why you,d bother upgrading to it ?? the whole ieda of a new OS is to have something new and fresh ! i think Windows 8 is the best OS Microsoft has done ! its smooth & fast plus the colours are great and different ! If you want to upgrade only to look at tweaking it don,t bother and stick with the same old Windows 7 ! be brave and change you might even enjoy yourself lol

if you haven't got a touch screen its a pain to move around
having the older style start makes it easier
