That's really nice! Couldn't do the same except with the intel logo could you? :p (Have i just committed a sin in this thread? :D)

thanks :) I think the idea of the image was better then it actually turned out, i'm not very good with photoshop :(.

I could do an intel one, but I'm a bit afraid that the amd staff judging the competition might frown upon it and invalidate my entry!

I just thought I would point out that with Google image search it is easy to see who is just adding logo's to existing wallpapers ;)

Good to see that there isnt much of that going on in this one :D

Some great entries here. A few of them are in my wallpapers folder ready to go on my AMD laptop :p

Funnily enough i was going to point some of those out, but then i thought that'd be a bit of a harsh thing to do :p

Not that i feel any better than them....mine was a 5 min google guide search on how to make the pattern haha

I hate to be "that guy" but gaming doe not have an "e" in it.

/Salsa

I hate to be "that guy" but does has an "s" on the end of it...... :p haha sorry. :D

so???

theres no rule saying a person can't do that...

it just says design a AMD wallpaper with the logos included.

I think it would be classed as rude non the less ^^ If someone ripped my wallpaper and just whacked AMD signs on it I'd be peeved.

I don't consider grabbing a background off of Google and sticking an AMD logo in the corner 'designing' a wallpaper
I agree to that if someone just sticking an AMD logo without doing anything to it

also you could say grabbing pictures and chipart and putting them on a page with an AMD logo isn't really considered designing a wallpaper

Thats what I meant :)

You could, but I wouldn't say that necesarily. It is just nice if people put the effort in :p

In my attempts, the logo in the center of the second was made by filling a textbox with text of small/medium size over a black background and colouring the text red, then applying the AMD logo as a b&w mask to that layer, rasterising the text, selecting the parts which should be greyscale, converting those parts to b&w, flattening the layer, and adding an outer glow to reveal the pattern on the background, and in the first even the image of the GPU is heavily edited to get rid of the glare and bring out the colour. The text in that one was a massive pain too haha.

I'm not trying to start something, I literally did only mean someone sticking an AMD logo on something they found :)

On another note, the entries seem to have died down. :( We need MOAAR :D

I thought you typed the text in a box, rasterised the layer with a transparant background and created a clipping mask to only show the AMD logo where the text was present.

Nah... But that sounds sensible :D

I err... Oh what did I do... I made a black background... Then inserted a textbox and filled it with the text... Then I applied a clipping mask to that layer, and put the FX logo in... The FX logo then went b&w for some reason... So I highlighted all the text and tinted it red... Then I had to rasterise it so that I could select the bits on the logo which should be black and white, saved the selection, then clicked the text layer and loaded the selection and set that part as black and white... Then I duped the layer twice and merged the three layers to make it brighter... Then flattened it and added the white glow :)

Maybe I just took a long winded approach.

*edit* yeah I kinda did it backwards :D
