now im trying to reinstall my win xp pro on my ACER laptop...i insert CD it starts to load, after loading i press ENTER to start installation but then it says that the system can't find any drives...it's like it cannot detect my hard disk...what can i do to arrange this...im leaving abroad and need to reinstall before i go...

thx a lot

well if i restart laptop then win xp starts normally...everything is ok

maybe i should do something before entering the CD?...maybe some settings?

you need to press F6 and hen insert a floppy disc with your sata drivers.

I take it your not using the XP disc that came with your laptop :)

if i where you, I'd download nlite and my sata drivers from the laptops manfucaters site and then using the XP disc you have, create a new new with your driver slipstreamed in.

I have to do this about once every 2 weeks as laptops fail at work that are too old and as much as my users hate me I just keep on fixed them and not replacing them!!

Hope it helps :)

not really coz i didnt understand...where am i supposed a floppy drive?

and i dont think acer hs sata drivers....

and also bios says it is IDE hard drive....

im confused

Might be easier for you if you just 'restored' the laptop from the recovery partition on the laptop. Check the documentation on how to do it.

well i didnt format my drive...might this be the problem?

i just restart pc boot win cd and then this error come...maybe first i need to format?
