*** WIN! *** Your chance to win an AMD Radeon 7970 Lightning worth £399.95!

I could probably put the whole components of a computer ontop of my cat before it cares enough to move.

It's what cats do and as a cat owner I find the winning video extremely disappointing.

Something with more effort involved would have been more deserving

That seems to be the general opinion, but we're not the judges.

The most annoying thing is i have a cat and i could have done the same thing in 15 minutes rather than two days making a gingerbread house from scratch. :p

Here's the real sucker punch though, i don't even like gingerbread so it got thrown away. :D

Just have to accept it though and move on. I don't want to be seen to be a sore loser. :)

We are definitely going to do more competitions like this. - May get the forum to decide the winners next time. So then there is no quibble over who likes what. It will be the majority vote then. ;)

I knew i should have sent you the house, that might have won me the prize i reckon once you tasted the sweet gingerbread. :D

In future OCUK should make "it's" community vote with a Poll and then choose among themselves the two with the most highest vote. How that Sleeping Cat entry won is beyond me since there were other stronger entries imo. Congrats anyway to the winner and for 5UB giving runner up prizes.

tbh this cat one wasnt even remotely funny . basically just advertised as hard as possible . i brought this form ocuk i love ocuk my marriage will be ocuk ocuk ocukkkkkk ocukkkkkkkkkkk my cat the end :p

make forum people chose winners .

also if you ever look at any of these comps most are just someone seeing someone elses idea then adding more to it until it ends .

Personally I wouldn't let the community vote as:

1. Will get a ton of duplicate accounts especially for an item worth as much as this!
2. Will end up like facebook competitions where everyone's friends will vote for them, even if it is crap (think back to a few competitions i.e. the bitfenix braided cable giveaway, people were suppose to vote for the case that needed them most, most people had spammed their friends channels etc. and ended up having hundreds of likes and their case was the best/tidiest looking anyway
3. Favouritism among a few members, suppose that could fit with the second point :p

Anyway, personally I didn't find the cat video that good (cat owner myself), much preferred the dog video. I am sure that the two cakes did require the most effort out of them all. I couldn't really see a clear winner between them and a few others. Either way Ltmatt already has a 7970 so it isn't like he will be upgrading from some POS like a 4850 or something :p

EDIT:

Actually, Skunkworks what GPU do you currently have?

Lol Matt, I was going to have today off sick, bake em another one last night, and hand deliver it today...

Not now tho...NOT NOW lolololol

i'd suggest you keep the decision making proces in house. It's too easy to "vote rig" online as has been explained.

Having forum members vote would be a good alternative, here's how it could roll out:

  • Competition starts off as normal; OP states what entries must include, rules, deadlines, etc.
  • Once the deadline is met, a new thread is started in a sub forum where users are invited to look at all the entries and vote by posting and naming the user whose entry they believe is the best.
  • Only 'proper' OCUK forum users are allowed to vote; perhaps only those users with 50+ votes/who have been around for a while.
  • We won't be allowed to see what everyone else votes for until the end of the competition
  • An administrator or moderator tallies up all the votes and decides on the winners and runners up.
  • Once the voting deadline finishes, the posts are unhidden (not really necessary, but just to make sure the judges tallied up properly :D)
  • Winner(s) are announced in the main thread.
  • Fin.
