I'm trying to update my drivers, but the second I get to the desktop it updates my Intel graphics drivers with the version windows has. However, that version is not the latest. I have already changed the preference to no for windows automatically downloading drivers, but it's still doing it. I have confirmed that it still says No, too.

Also, I'd rather not pull my internet cable as I'm trying to run the Intel updater utility to see if I can bypass a separate problem I'm having.

Any ideas?

Idiotically that option does NOT (except for some reason for some people who had it set before they changed it) prevent automatic driver updates - all it does now is control whether you just get the bare driver or if you get the driver + additional support software installed (note the change to the description text).

There is coming an update that will give back a bit more control over driver updates but it still seemed a bit inadequate in the preview.

Long past time they fired whoever is stubbornly resisting just giving driver and update control back to the user as an advanced option - I just spent 2 days with my Windows 10 tablet unusable because windows update got its knickers in a twist with no options to take manual control and just sat there using 70% CPU and RAM for 2 days until it suddenly started installing updates :| (I could have reverted to 3rd party programs or messing about with services and GPE, etc. but that is another story).
