Okay, trouble installing Windows 7. Cables arrived this morning so i plugged in my Pioneer Disk Drive (UATA) and my WD 360 (SATA/PATA). The 360 is in the first SATA connection on the motherboard, so i moved my other 160GB WD HDD (with Vista on it) into the second connection. I put the disk in and it boots into it, goes through a few things then gets onto the installer. I select my language and allow them to take my soul but when i try to tell it to install in the WD 360 it gives me this message:

Windows cannot find or create a partition on this disk. See log files for more info.

Or something similar to that. I tried reformatting it, always gives my the same message. This is with the 64 bit disks and my specs are:

E2140 @ Stock
2GB Generic 667MHz CL5 RAM
ECS Livermore 8
x1950 Pro
Akasa Paxpower 400W
Non standard 160GB WD PATA HDD
Pioneer UATA/IDE Disk Drive

Another problem i encountered after installing the new HDD and Optical Drive is that my Splash Screen has disappeared, meaning i can't access what little BIOS options i had. What should i do now?

Try having just the one HDD connected during install, as much as it shouldnt, Ive heard many stories of multiple HDDs "confusing" windows during installtion, unplug old, install then replugin old to start accessing it

Might be a BIOS setting about how the disk is accessed. Some boards let you put SATA drives into IDE mode.

Disconnecting the dive just gives the same message... As i said before i can't access the BIOS and even if i could it's from a pre build, so the only options i actually get are changing the boot device order.

Sounds odd, but I got that when I tried to install on a linux-made NTFS partition. I re-formatted the partition in linux, but using Fat32, and the Windows installer decided it could format that. I suspect it was more luck than actual reasons, though, so YMMV?

If there is a partition on the empty drive that you want to install to, delete it. Win7 should create a new partition from the blank space... If that doesn't work, do as the others suggested and install it with just the one drive in.

Are you keeping your Vista install? There's not much point, as if it works in vista, it'll work in 7. Just start again with 7, and leave vista out of it.

No partitions on the empty drive, it said it couldn't find or create any...

I'm keeping it because it's the HDD from a pre built that i will eventually put back together and sell. Shouldn't make a difference to this anyway though, should it?

Okay, trouble formatting it. I tried to do it through Vista, but the only option i got in the window was NTFS. So i tried it through 'DOS' and it went all the way through then told me it was too big for FAT32? Now it's apparently completely unformatted. How do i format it to FAT32?

I believe you are mistaken... FAT32 can be formatted onto 2TB storage, and used by windows. It just may not be formatted onto this by Windows. Not since ME anyway...
