Hi,

My knowledge of raid is very limited at best so hoping someone can help. I have the following drives currently in my system.

128GB SSD M4 (Windows 8 installed)
64GB SSD M4
1TB WD Black
500GB WD Green

I have a spare 2TB WD Green drive that I would like to use to back all this up. What would be the best way? Is it possible to format the 2TB drive into 4 partitions and then use some sort of RAID so it automatically backs up?

I have used the Windows 8 built in backup and when it came round to needing to use it, it failed. So I would prefer not to use that method.

RAID is not what you want for backup - there's no point in having something which automatically removes the file you just mistakenly deleted from the "backup".

What's probably best in this situation is to use something like Arcronis TrueImage or the like to take an image of the OS drive and then use Robocopy, synctoy or similar to copy everything else at a file level. Whatever you use for the file copy make sure it compares source and target first otherwise you;ll be there for ever.
