I currently use VLC as my main player of choice however the audio seems to be better in winamp than VLC does anyone know how good winamp is at playing video?

thanks

i don't recommend winamp for video

my media player setup

foobar for music only (i used winamp for 10 years and recently moved over to foobar, glad i did)
media player classic for video with ac3 codec, core avc and ffdshow. thats it.

Ac3 codec filter has a graphic eq and a lot more settings. If it is mp3 audio then yes there is no option to eq within media player classic. but ffdshow has audio eq for mp3 and a lot more effects + more. but i like it as it is light weight and works fast with a lot of screen resize options. you can also hide all the toolbars so you just see the video which is cool when you watch stuff as you are busy on the pc doing other stuff.

foobar is open source and i like multiple playlists, it is still in development so some of the features that i like from winamp are not there. for example the ability to adjust the volume with the mouse wheel, i have put in a request for that. as well as drag and drop clearing the playlist and auto playing. which i used to get when dropping the file onto the player itself and not the playlist. but they are minor, it also has cool graphic eq and is very stable and low on resources.

I always remove the ticks from any Video (wam, avi, mpg etc..) or Windows base sound file (wma, wav mid etc..) as winamp doesn't handle any of them very well!..

Still like it for music playback though!.. even CD's

Yarp.. I'm a MPC-HC/VLC person!... never trust winamp to handle video, last time I did all I got was a black screen!!... thats why I do the above :)
