Winamp for Mac

There any decent MP3 players out there other then iTunes? I'd love Winamp for Mac as Winamp is just so damn good.

I dont like how Itunes adds everything you play to your library. Would rather have it if i click an mp3 in finder, it loads that mp3 only, then I can load playlists I have made aswell.

Anyone?

What do you mean? Are you having trouble altering the settings to disable the copying of files?

Im not about the copying files to the music folder. I mean, when you click a file, it adds it to your Library. I have disabled the "copy to the music folder". But my point is my Library gets filled up with crap I dont want (like if im playing sample mp3's or something). Winamp would open one file alone, then when I wanted I could just load the playlist with my music.

VLC is possibly the worst program I have ever come across in my entire life.

At least for movies, I never thought of trying it for music.

How about compiling XMMS for your system? It's a *NIX clone of Winamp. It could definitely run on OS X but you'd need some GUI libraries and probably GCC. Perhaps someone geekier than I could lend a hand.

XMMS is an open-source clone of Winamp first written in 1997 and continuously updated since then. Winamp skins work with it and it offers essentially the same functionality.

I don't know much about mac's but as far as I know there is no Open Sound System(OSS) for macs.

I do think this is where the mac's fall down. I mean VLC seems to be better now than it was an Mplayer is quite good but its hard to say this, windows media player is better than both of them and quicktime!

I think apple should spend some more time on making a better media player. I know they also have itunes but IMO its only good for music.

I've never had a lick of trouble with VLC player. I find myself using it when I'm using Windows because WMP11 is terribly buggy. I should haver have tried the beta but I'm too lazy to downgrade.

It plays the ones it feels like and not others that are from the smae place. Odd
