In major towns regardless of when my graphics are on low or ultra my GPU usage is only 40 percent, from low to high the FPS stays at 60 fps but as soon as I hit Ultra it only gets 30-60 FPS why won't it just stay at 60 FPS and increase GPU usage? :D
 
Just wandering isnt wow quite CPU dependent?... Although I can't imagine you CPU would bottleneck it looking at...
 
i have a similar thing with another online game giving me low cpu and gpu usage but terrible fps lol... but my issue's probably intel driver related. maybe your issue stems from server/your internet lag?
 
This seems worrying, although some reviews of the 670 posted fps of around 120+ in WoW, so I guess it could be server/driver related?

What resolution are you running at as well? How many screens?
 
1920x1080, just seems to be in major towns with like 300 people all in one spot. I thought maybe installing it onto my SSD might help.
 
Yeah ok, so it's obviously something to do with the town(s).

Hopefully someone else might know more about what causes the loss of fps when there's a large number of people on the screen/same spot.

Try the new beta driver, it reportedly fixes some oc 6 series cards from under-clocking:

'NVIDIA released fixes for outstanding issues, such as micro-stutter noted by some GeForce GTX 600 "Kepler" users in games with v-sync enabled; under-clocking of factory-overclocked graphics cards by certain manufacturers'

Just to add - its impossible to get 100% smooth gameplay. There are going to be slowdowns at points such as loading into big cities in WoW. The level of detail on characters is fairly decent and rendering 300 different models at once is going to cause slowdown. Additionally, not every game engine is coded to max out your CPU/graphics card. It's difficult to do this due to the never ending combinations of PC components that people have so you often end up with some kind of compromise.

If you want to see game engines coded for max hardware utilisation buy a 360/ps3 :p

I can't imagine it's hindering your experience all that much anyway is it?
 
For WOW you would be CPU limited when with a high-end card. This is because this old game pretty much only uses ONE core.

You already got the best CPU for WOW, as the IvyBridge has the highest IPC. If you can somehow keep the temp under control, overclocking your i5 3570K higher would DEFINITELY help improve the frame rate. But still, it would most likely still take at least a few years before CPU is fast enough to the point of being able to hold 60fps constant in WOW with just a single core of the CPU.
 
What gets me is the 3x 670 at 1920x1080?

If I could afford 3 670's I would be using one of those 2560x1600 screens and probably a gtx690

This make sense. Wonder if blizzard will ever change it to take advantage of multi cores, guessing no :P

The thing about a few years though, will probably never get to test that theory since there will probably be a lot less people playing / sat in the towns :P
