Are they worth it?

I'm wondering if they're a good deterrent as there have been some recent burglaries in the surrounding areas but only when people are not in, so with vigilant neighbours notified, I reckon window alarms might be a good option.

Has anyone had much experience of them? There appear to be vibration or contact ones for the doors. I'm guessing you'd need one on each section of a UPVC window?

These jobbies seem cheap (and cheerful/poor perhaps):

I'm not sure that would be much use on it's own. Have you got a house alarm? I think expanding that with tremor sensors on the windows would be a better idea. It's more likely to be heard than that device alone and not as easy to destroy.

Have the other break ins been via Windows? If so what method was used to get in? Breaking the glass?

Yeah the one which happened to someone we know was by breaking the glass. I thought window alarms might be something quick and easy to slap up whilst we consider other options.

Well I guess that's true. It's better than nothing in the meantime.

Thing with alarms in general is that people don't pay much attention (other than moan) when they hear them.

If your area is being targeted get a dialogue going with the neighbours so that you're all looking out for each other's properties and they're going to investigate an alarm sounding.
