Just wondering how many of you have opted to use Start is back on Windows 10? I quite like the start menu personally but might try changing it to see if it makes much difference.

I quite like the whole tiles idea. That said the default sizing is a little too large but easy sorted. If anything I can find what I need much quicker as I have so many more Apps all pinned as small tiles.

Cant see a problem with the start menu but I rarely go into "all apps". Stuff I use regularly is either pinned to my bar or pinned as a tile. If I need to find something I press the windows key and start typing it.

Yep, I don't mind tiles I use it pretty much for the XP style fly out menu for all apps as the default one is completely unusable being so small.

This.

I didn't miss the start menu in Windows 8 - I just adapted it to how I wanted things and learned. Don't get me wrong, I didn't like it at first and I'd have done things differently if I were the one planning Windows 8, but I understood why they did it and I'm pleased it's evolved a heck of a lot in Windows 10.

It's still not perfect - I would have preferred to have collapsible folders for more than 1 level and ease of removing custom apps, especially so in enterprise versions, though that's more a system thing than a start menu thing.

Stopped using the start menu's since Vista, I just hit the windows key and then type what I am looking for and then hit enter. Very rarely do I open the start menu's these days.

I use start 10 and before that start 8. I think thye are a massive improvment over what comes in the box and I use it heavily.

Now they've added the option to enable an extra tile width wise in a group functionally the Windows 10 start menu is pretty useful for me shame it still looks ugly icons wise though.

Now if only they'd give back more control over Windows update, the ability to turn off the extra background stuff off easily and polished up the UI I'd have little reason to stay on 7 sadly can't see it happening.

Don't see the point in them - I just learnt how to use the newer interface and it's actually much better and faster than using a clunky legacy start menu replacement.

I used start8, but don't see the need for start10 TBH. Most of the goodness from the object desktop turned up in vanilla 10 anyway (start menu, modern apps in a window).

Except fences which I still use.

This (except I used StartisBack, so sorry for derailing the thread a little).

I hated the Start Screen introduced in Windows 8 (as it seems, most people did), but I like the new Windows 10 one enough that I am happy to adjust from the classic start menu.

One question, anyone know how to copy Start Menu layouts from one PC to another without using a MS account (even using an MS account does not work for me)?

Don't see the point with Windows 10, extra 3rd party junk to run at startup. No thanks, the AV is enough.

I adapt to change otherwise I would have stuck with Windows 7.

Anyway, Windows 10 has improved quite a lot and added many new features. Start menu seems never forgettable. And Cortana as well as Game DVR shall be what I appreciate most.

I liked the Start Screen of Windows 8. Efficient to use and neatly displayed everything I was likely to launch without having to waggle a mouse up and down a menu searching (I could fit sixty neatly categorized icons on my monitor quite easily and who has more 'commonly used' programs than that?) After a bunch of faffing around, I managed to get Windows 10 more or less back to how Windows 8 was so I'm happy enough with that. Hate the unnecessary framing of Metro apps, however. I don't need a little X in the corner to close something. Firstly, closing something is less important than it used to be. Secondly, I can just drag it down to close or hit Alt+F4. I hate that they backtracked on everything to placate the learning inhibited - give me back my screen real estate without distractions.

I never missed the Start menu when they took it away and now they've brought it back even uglier. Stupid Microsoft.
