Windows 10. Bitdefender oddness.

So I reinstalled cause a game I had didn't like it, so I installed again & it said it was already on the system, but I couldn't open it. Ni ucin in sys tray, start menu the entry was there, but nothing happened when I clicked it & the odd thing is task manager there it was so it is on the system. I even deleted the dir in linux & reinstalled, no help.

Try using Bitdefender's uninstall tool and reinstalling.

I'm sure I read a Windows update broke a number of Antivirus programs, yes Bitdefender is not an antivirus but the problems could be down to how it works.

I use Bitdefender myself and have no issues.

We use this on loads of machines and haven’t had an issue with recent Windows updates.

Hah yeah I thought it was weird, nothing changed and Avira free seemed to be causing Windows process to stop responding when it tried to update (which is often). Tried Panda trial and the problem went away. I'll move back when MS decide to fix this.
