When I fresh install Win 10, is it best to use the default WIN 10 drivers or the motherboard specific drivers even though they may be older?

Well, even if you install the motherboard specific ones Windows 10 will update them automatically anyway :p. Windows 10 does a good job at installing drivers so I would just leave it at that, only manual drivers I had to install was GPU and Intel AHCI drivers (which works better compared to standard MS AHCI drivers for me).

Use motherboard specific drivers, and if there aren't any windows 10 listed drivers then google the motherboard and add the word drivers and there's something there that will have compatible drivers.

I've had issues with generic MS drivers and going with the specific drivers for the chipset seems to have fixed that.

Bottom line is never use the ones on the driver CD for the motherboard, they will be old.

Personally, I get the chipset drivers from the chipset maker, network card form the network card maker and USB if required.
