This is an issue my Brother is having and one I'm unable to fix until Sunday, but I've got him to try multiple things including checking temps ( They are fine ), a new power supply ( working fine 800w corsair ) and turning off Windows Update as a test. Yet it's still doing this, it just shuts down when it feels like it, without ANY BSOD's or freeze ups.

He did tell me this however
This actually all started just after a windows update. It forced my pc to shut down and then when it booted up it would shut down every 20 minutes or so

Thanks guys!

Have you checked task scheduler to see if there are any rogue tasks forcing the shut down? What about when he's in safe mode?

On the one hand I've had this twice now - but with restarting rather than shutting down since updating to 1809 so might be some bug.

Windows used to do regular 20 minutes shutdowns like that if it wasn't activated and past the grace period but I don't believe 10 still does that except maybe with certain configurations.

Thanks guys for all your help all fixed! Turned out while checking event viewer, it was a particular update that was failing at the point windows was shutting down. Stopped it, done :)

Talking about event viewer I meant to check those restarted I talked about - for some reason they are attributed to lpksetup.exe language pack installation finalisation - not sure what was going on there but definitely not an authorised restart - looks like it might be part of a fix for 1803 and 1809 input and display language issues with it auto-switching/resetting of its own accord.
