OK, so my laptop died this morning. RIP Dell Vostro, aged 8.5 years. You served me well.
So now I've commandeered an even older device from 10 years ago which I've got Windows 10 installed on. It works quite nicely even if it's a Pentium 4 with only 2GB RAM. LMAO.
Anyhoo, none of the Windows 10 apps or settings will open. Edge starts running according to task manager but nothing appears on-screen. The settings app won't open. The Photos app won't open.
Is this purely because of the age of the system or is this something that can be fixed in Windows?
It seems to be anything to do with the Metro side of things. I'm using Google Chrome nicely. Windows Explorer opens and runs nicely.
