I upgraded to Windows 10 from my copy of Windows 8 x64 pro on my Asus maximus v gene mobo! I am now upgrading to skylake and I got myself a viii hero! Am I going to be able to activate Windows 10 again on the new one if I install my copy of Windows 8 and upgrade on the new motherboard?

Is your Windows 8 a retail version? If so, Windows 10 upgrade should work on any activated install of a supported earlier version.

In fact from build 1511 you should be able to directly install Windows 10 and activate using your Windows 8 key.

I think I got my windows 8 when it was first released and it was a cheap upgrade from Windows 7 so I'm not sure if I have retail hopefully it will work again :)

If your Windows 7 was retail, that key would work. If not, Windows 7/8 will likely let you reactivate via the phone system, although that's technically in breach of the OEM EULA. Once you have an activated 7/8 then a 10 upgrade should work.
