I'm not entirely sure if I can ask for a product key for Windows 10 x64 Pro, but I need one and I have 30 days left, I had the older one but apparently it's already in use to I can't seem to get mine to work. If anyone here is kind enough to give me one that'd be wonderful. Many thanks :) If I am not allowed to post this thread please delete this thread.

How is anyone going to give you a key?

Windows 10 keys are locked to a motherboard ID so you would not be able to use it... only other people would be those that have paid real cash for a retail key...

You need to expand more on why you need it exactly???

+ just to be anal there is a windows 10 sub forum you should have posted this in..

I need it to activate windows 10, and if it's possible can anyone move my thread into the relevant sub forum. thanks

the free upgrade doesn't give keys..

you have to upgrade from windows7/8.1 to windows 10 then it activates automatically.

If you upgraded from 8.1 then your key is activated and tied to your motherboard you won't need a key to activate..

If you are trying to do a fresh install without having upgraded from 7,8 or 8.1 it will not work... You must upgrade first then once you have dine that you can fresh install on the same hardware..

How have you installed and what from? As it sounds like to me you have tried to fresh install without upgrading first.

tbh it sounds like you trying to pirate it if so you shouldn't be asking on these forum

I did a fresh install on PC, everything wiped, literally and now my code won't work, and I assumed that it'll work but it doesn't, now I'm stuck with this for 30 days until I get a key sorted out god knows how, but I really need a Windows 10 key. :(
 
Like enigma27 said, you have to upgrade to windows 10 first even if you want to do fresh install. If you already fresh installed it you have to install back your previous system, use your old key, then upgrade, then do fresh install. Once you upgrade your key will be assigned to Windows 10 and only then, otherwise it won't work.

I don't know if there is another way to get it back without reinstalling your old system (windows 8 or 7)

wrong...

win7,8,8.1 keys don't get assigned to Windows 10.

with the free upgrade version, the activation works on hardware ID / activation ID, not keys
 
Where did I write that key isn't assigned to hardware?

it's not what op is asking, of course they do but you can't install windows 10 without upgrading your old system and assigning key to windows 10. Windows 8/7 key is for windows 8 until you upgrade and assign the key to your version of windows 10.

the upgrade process doesn't do anything with your previous product key, it doesn't get assigned to win10...

when u do the upgrade process it check if your previous OS activated and genuine then it takes the hardware id and activation id from your previous OS and flags them for win10....

if it worked the way you suggesting, people would be to use their previous os keys with win10 after upgrade but they can't ,has it doesn't allow it.

So i dont have nither of these things what do I do? Am I screwed? I previously had windows 7 and now I dont have anything.

Follow these steps...

1. Reinstall windows 7 and activate it <-- Important
2. Apply any updates that will give you the icon to upgrade to windows 10
3. Download the windows 10 media install and stick it on a USB
4. Upgrade windows 7 to windows 10
5. check windows 10 has successfully activate

Once you have done this you can then go ahead if you want and do a fresh install as your windows 10 will be tied to the motherboard.. but to be fair doing this you will have a pretty clean install of 10 anyways so you could just use the built in refresh and wipe everything.

the ONLY way in your current state to get windows 10 as you have fresh installed and not upgraded is to buy a genuine windows 10 key and activate your current install with that which is going to cost you money.
 
Well the code that I used to activate is gone, I misplaced is somewhere, and I won't be able to find it assumed that I will never need it again, but erased the entire hard drive, and now I'm stuck with this stupid windows 10 that needs to be activated. I should've looked into it before I even attempted to do all this, but that's unfortunate, what is done is done, Is there any other way I can attempt to do this. And somehow get it?

Yes pay cash for a key.... no other way to 'get it'

Either buy a windows 7,8 or 8.1 key install that then upgrade to Windows 10 for free or just go and buy windows 10 out right.

Buying the windows 7,8 or 8.1 keep will be the cheaper option i would imagine.
