I've been running Windows 10 for a while now. I had an issue when I first installed it. The start menu would stop working after a short period of use. Along with that would go any associated shell functionality (alerts, notifications etc)
In short the issue was down to permissions on the My Documents side of things. Certain files were getting stuck as read only, no matter what I tried I couldn't fix this. The only work around was to completely disable UAC. That of course meant that any Modern Interface apps wouldn't run.
I kicked it into the long grass, intent on trying to fix it at some point down the line. I remember reading an article that explained what was happening. It seemed to be for some reason My Documents "working as intended"
I have recently had to reinstall Windows and the problem is there again. I've disabled UAC for the moment. I can't find the original article I read about the cause of this. Anyone any idea what is happening and how I can fix it?
