Hi All.

i have a windows 10 laptop that can't be upgraded to windows 11. I have downloaded Ubuntu24.04 LTS from ubuntu.com, but windows flagged the disc image file as from an unknown source. Is this typical for windows or have I downloaded from the wrong source?

thanks.

Mike

Sounds about right for Windows in general - as long as it's from ubuntu.com and the checksum/sha matches what Ubuntu provide you'll be fine.

Code:
d7fe3d6a0419667d2f8eff12796996328daa2d4f90cd9f87aa9371b362f987bf *ubuntu-24.04.2-desktop-amd64.iso

Open Windows powershell in the folder with the iso (or correct the path, obv).
Code:
Get-FileHash ubuntu-24.04.2-desktop-amd64.iso

SHA256 code should match.

Microsoft really don't like you using another OS so it doesn't surprise me that that message pops up. It'll be to try and turn you off installing Linux.
