Windows 10 & X-Fi fatal1ty No Audio

Just noticed that whilst the drivers/audio are still working, settings are not being retained after a reboot. All my 3D CMSS, 24 Equaliser etc. are all reseting to default ever time...

I get that on Win 8.1. Simple fix is to set your settings how you want. Put PC to sleep, wake it up again, and reboot. Saves settings afterwards :)

I've given up on this and switched to on board audio. Couldn't find a solution and had to reset defaults every login to get audio working.

Can't blame windows 10, I had similar problems when moving to Windows 8, Creative support is just rubbish.

Did you try changing the settings to how you wanted then putting PC to sleep? After wake up settings should have been remembered. And then after reboots they should be remembered. Also right click and run the control panel program as admin (even if you've turned off UAC etc).

i have also had problems with my creative xfi xtremegamer soundcard when i updated from 7 to 10. w10 all worked fine but i had no sound at all from soundcard...checked playback devices and it was still default and the sound bar there showed it was playing but i could hear nothing. then tried my onboard sound (realtek)...changed all sound leads over to correct jacks...set it to default.... it showed as playing but still nothing there either!. rebooted and suddenly sound was working on the creative card! tried my webcam and w10 did a bsod and restarted.... once again no sound! rebooted and had sound again but had changed nothing. later restarted pc and once again no sound! gave up and rolled back to w7 and now all working fine. i liked the look of w10 but as i had these probs will have to try again in future.... just dont understand why both soundcard and onboard showed as playing but wouldnt (even tried headphones direct to pc). tried all fixes i could find... diff audio settings etc but no good.

I have a trusty xtremegamer too and was just debating to upgrade but convinced I should wait. Thanks for letting us know, typical creative with their shockingly poor driver support. Granted my card is ancient but the sound quality is excellent.

Reading from their website it says drivers for win10 for my card will be available in September

Here a link to check your card for driver win10 availability

thnx for that, was just about to post a similar link as the pcgamer website has put up an article showing problems that people have encountered. it also said about creative! maybe i will give it another go in september! i am waiting delivery of a new gaming pc with w7 installed, so i may see how newer hardware copes with the upgrade!

maybe i should unplug the card and try again tho? maybe then the realtek drivers will install correctly and it be ok?

Quite a few drivers are available now.

When Win10 was first released the Creative site had October down as the release date for drivers for my X-Fi Xtrememusic.
However it seems they have got their finger out and have released quite a few driver packs for quite a few cards.

Head over to Creative's site, you may be surprised.
