Right I may sound like a fool but what I wanted to do as an experiment and for the novelty of it is,
Somehow get windows 3.1 to boot up on my pc from usb stick, but I was woundering if there was anyway i could get windows 3.1 compatable with dvds or USB, bearing in mine I am a noob to programming drivers and open source etc so i know literally nothing when it comes to stuff like that. Any help anyone could offer would be greatley apprecieted, thanks.

Pretty sure you can't get usb in 3.1, i'd guess probably the same for dvd too.

Oh and wow windows 3.1, that brings back some horrible memories :D

if you want to mess about with windows 3.1, you're best off installing vmware server or virtualbox on a normal pc and then running 3.1 as a guest os. much easier. :)

There are usb drivers for dos 6.2 I had them running in a vm - like wise for the dvd drive. get the items working in 6.2 first then start playing with win 3.1/3.11

remember, win 3.1 gets installed after dos!
god, win 3.1 bet it will be hell just trying to get it working on moden day comps, i bet the getting it on the usb is the easy part :/ - good luck!

Should just be a case of making your USB stick bootable and then installing Windows 3.1 to it. No problem there but actually making 3.1 work with modern hardware might be a problem. You don't need USB drivers in the 3.1 installation to make it, in theory, boot from the USB stick. That should be covered by the motherboard BIOS.

IIRC 3.1 was a GUI front end to MSDOS... DOS is going to be the problem, not Windows. IIRC you can just run Windows from within XP, as you would any old software.
