Not sure which the issue is with, but I have a trial of windows vista installed at the moment. It recognises 3.5 gb of memory (i have 6), but is this just because it is the 32 bit version? I am trying to install windows 7 64 bit, but i get an error message when I try to.

Is it a problem with the RAM or a problem with windows not recognising the full amount and deeming my pc as uncapable to install 64 bit onto?

Well a 64bit installation doesnt have any real ram 'requirements' in that sense that it would cause you a problem when trying to install it. If you vista is 32bit, then that is the reason for only showing that amount.

So my guess is that the error is for something else. - well it could be ram related, since you cant rule it out completely
