Ive partioned my hard drive so i can dual boot with XP 64 and hopefully win 7 64.
The copy of win 7 64 is the official 7100 rc release.
Anyway i boot the dvd from dos it installs then at the final installation stage, updating drivers the system reboots and does not start back up thus just leaving a black screen shutting my tft down.

Has anyone had the same problem and overcome it/ or has anyone any suggestions to overcome this problem.

I had a similar problem with vista 64 dual boot with xp 64. it would boot up but as soon as i loaded ccc drivers for my 4870 it would not boot up again (black screen as though the monitor was on stand by) I didnt find a solution to this problem thus returned to xp 64.

It gives the option to boot in safe mode.
I choose the option it lists the drivers then says cannot boot in safe mode as installation is incomplete. restart to complete installation. i restart and the same problem occurs

Can you try a VGA cable or DVI cable instead of what you're using? I had a similar problem with DVI once, was due to the geforce drivers, I have heard a lot about ATI cards still having trouble with this issue though.

And Hmmm, odd problem, cant Safe mode, so you cant see what the drivers Are. and you cant finish the install either, So you cant even get into the tools to work it out.

Must be a hardware Thing... try taking OUT your GPU before boot? try to finish the installation, then put it back in afterwards? (when the comp is OFF, obviously :P)

Edit: Hahaha, ok, forget that, Im an idiot... Remembered you cant use a PC at all these days without a GPU :P
I miss the old school Motherboard VGA connectors.

Anyways... Bios > use onboard vga??

Just to be clear, you see the windows logo then you get a blank screen? Or are you simply not able to boot at all? Does it actually turn the monitor off or give you a black screen? I installed it fine with almost exactly the same hardware as you without a hitch.

I would be tempted to strip it down to it bear minimum connected. GPU, Keyboard, Mouse and see if that helps. Add your other hardware later.

Cheers

I ve disconnected the DVI cable and used a VGA to my monitor.
The installation has continued have put key in ect and boots up fine in win 7.
Not happy with the pic quality using VGA connection. im gunna download win 7 ccc drivers install them and seen if i can boot up. But first im gunna just put the DVI connection back in and see if win 7 boots.
Will report back success/failure

OK have tried installing the ccc 9.4 drivers in VGA then rebooting with a DVI connection. The os did not boot up it just returned the monitor into standby mode. There seems to be a problem with certain monitors for vista 64 and Windows 7
My monitor is a 19" ATMT ClearView A19558MT
