Just a few questions....

Does the new intel 80GB SSD already have the firmware that has trim support?

When installing windows 7 on the SSD does it automatically do all the stripe size thingy itself?

And 1 last question! Do I have to change anything in my bios having a SSD drive?

My other spec is in my sig, many thanks in advance.

intels dont require a format to update firmware

most other brands do

RJK, not quite so simple as that. The situation with the other 2 main controllers at the moment;

Samsung - you can't update the firmware at all - so no TRIM support by the look of it on old drives :eek:

Indilinx (OCZ/Crucial etc) - Is a bit of a mess at the moment because of a dodgy beta firmware that was withdrawn. They should normally allow updates without a format and I'd expect future firmwares (if needed) to be done without wiping the drive. For those that did use the withdrawn firmware it's looking like rolling back to the old one, before updating to the new one. For those that stayed on the old firmware it's looking likely an update to the new one won't wipe the drive. Time will tell when it's finished testing and released to us "testers" :D
