Windows 7 and start up programs

Hey all, can anyone tell me why 2 of my programs which normally start up when windows boots don't start at all now? the 2 programs i am talking about is Microsoft security essentials and realtek HD audio manager. I got no idea why they have stopped behaving like they should :confused:
 
Never used Security essentials but what about if you go into the program and then the settings and see if it is enabled?

Also I don't think HD audio manager needs to get started to enable the HD audio as the manager is just software that enables you to change the settings. Which also doesn't matter becuase as soon as you open it in control panel it starts the service/program
 
Security essentials don't have the setting to enable it to start when windows boots up, it has always automatically started on its own since install. As for Realtek HD audio manager i could probably live without it on start up, but its still annoying that 2 programs have changed there behaviour with out me doing anything :p
 
They are in the registry.

Check these two keys;
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]

.. and add any of the entries.

Why would i want to do that? The only program i see in them registry folders is my windows 360 pad. And i don't want to delete that. I want Microsoft security essentials to run when windows starts as it did before.
 
Go to [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Run]

add a string value called MSC > right click edit > add '"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Security Client\msseces.exe" -hide -runkey'

This will allow MSE to startup again automatically.
 
Cheers man, that did the trick! Any idea why this has happened? I don't recall messing with my registry recently, unless it was CCleaner or something.
