Well this sucks, i'm running backup for the second time and it isnt just looking at new files it's doing everything and taking hoursgoing to have to leave PC on all night!
If you want to Echo sync backups use SyncToy.
System images are exactly that, it will build a new image overwriting the previous image each time it is run.
I use SyncToy for backups of data files and my Windows drive is system imaged at least once a month. Doesn't take too long over USB 2 either and you can use VHD Attach (see my thread) to mount the system image as a virtual drive should you wish to restore only some data but not the whole image.
