windows 7 beta?

im wondering about downloading this beta as a temorary OS for my new rig. i want to avoid vista and xp is lacking suport for many new games. so would it be a decent idea to get the beta from jully to whenever windows 7 comes out? i want a 64bit OS if i can afford it as it leaves me open to future improvements. thanks

Why do you want to avoid vista?
running beta on two systems and it runs great. Only problem I've had is wireless card on my htpc is not supported and I can't find any compatible drivers.

Look on an auction site for 2nd copies of vista retail, then you can get cheap windows 7 upgrade when released.

Windows 7 / 64bit build 7057 is available for download - course as with Vista 64 bit there may be driver probs.
In any event 7 is better than XP or Vista

Which games lack support for XP? The only ones I can think of are ShadowRun and Halo 2.

just looked and mthey have taken down the beta. and crysis, farcry and many other games arnt suported
they work on low settings but xp cant use DX10 so games cant be palyed on high settings.

Just because they can't use DX10, which is still pretty much a gimmick doesn't mean they aren't supported

Pretty much all games will work on XP, infact I am struggling to think of one game that won't work, and I'm including games from DOS as well

I play Colonization which was released 14 years ago roughly on XP
