I recently upgraded my main computer to Windows 7 64. Over the last few days it had been dropping its internet connection to the point where I can't get back on at all. I have a virgin broadband connection and the computer is plugged into the router. I have tried the obvious such as restarting the modem, router and computer several times. Sometimes this works but for the most part it doesn't.
I phoned up Virgin yesterday who after telling me to restart everything then told me that they couldnt help any further because I was using either firefox or IE 8. I was told if I installed IE 7 which they support it would work. I wasn't too convinced by this but I managed to fire up an old XP computer with IE7 and get it on the network which connects to the internet fine (I'm typing from it now) I downloaded IE7 and tried to install it on new computer but this insn't compatable with windows 7!
I can connect to the internet via my phone whcih can see and use the wireless network.
Can anybody shed any lght on what the issue may be on my main computer? I'm not sure if its a problem at Virgin's end if I can connect from one computer but not the other. Very frustrating!
Thanks for any help
Simon
