I have an old creative soundcard and I just installed windows 7 with creative media source _ drivers downloaded from the webbsite to make sure it was compatible, but the control panel is just rubbish. on xp i could easil adjust the base by double clicking the speaker icon in the bottom left, or using the "go" feature which i had set up as a drop down toolbbar at the top left of my screen.

am i missing something? where has all my control gone?

They nuked it in Vista. Creative are very very poor now. Get an Asus Xonar. I have the D2X and its fantastic!

I had an X-FI which under XP did everything. Under Vista it was just basic, no mic boost options, nothing. Creative tried to tell me that the card does not support it, and told me it also doesn't exist under XP. Complete lies.

I eventually installd Youppax drivers. Think the person who wrote them was threatened with court because they worked.

yeah it is that audigy in my sig, nice card for me, cheap and makes sounds when i want it to :D

have you got any example screenshots i could see about how good the asus control panel is?

i probably will ditch creative now as advised, cause i cant listen to music without such control as i had with xp :(

I have bass/tone controls available with the Creative drivers installed from Windows Update, not sure if it differs depending on what card you have...

To be fair, that is sooo far from what im used to with my audigy on xp, I could control although might be worth trying in the short term.

I'll have a look at youppax, but I'm really feeling a switch to asus in the very near future.

The lack of sound controls is definitely not a windows 7 "feature" like all the other crap i have disabled/enabled is it?

I haven't enabled or disabled anything I don't think but then I very rarely use it anyway as I just keep the settings at default.

Are you looking for equaliser type controls?

yeah i guess, they had equalisers, bass boosters etc in their xp software, not i dont see any of it
