I'm going to reinstall Windows 7 on my old computer and laptop but the drivers on the manufacturer's website are quite old dated back to 2010/11 so I'm wondering does Windows do a good job of downloading the latest or is there a tool that can find the latest drivers?

You can get certain drivers for your computer from microsoft but you really need to get them from the motherboard / graphics cards etc manufacturers website.

The drivers from the motherboard/laptop manufacturer's website are quite old and I believe there are newer ones available but they haven't updated their website with them.

I know for display drivers, I can get the latest from Nvidia/Intel's website.

If you have a branded laptop you could probably get all of them from the laptop manufacturers website.

As long as the hardware works without issue then old drivers will be fine.

agree, at least for a dell laptop, thats the only place to get a reliable chipset driver
on a laptop, I have had more problems(blue-screens) for nvidia not taking the ones Dell have qualified/published
Equally have always stuck to web published driver install order.

what is your specific example ? email them (check their foreign language/usa web sites)

@darael recommended Snappy Driver Installer tool in the Windows 10 thread which I have used and the driver versions are higher than the ones on the manufacturer's website so maybe give that a try and hopefully someone with more knowledge/information can comment on how the tool works.
