hey guys just putting together a new system, have the asus rampage 2 on order

aswell as the 5870

going for windows 7 anyway but not sure on which package ime gonna need!

ime guessing the pro/ultimate packages. anybody have these yet and running games in compatability mode for XP or anything??

You can run EXEs in compatibility mode on Home Premium aswell.

If you dont need any other features of Pro/Ultimate, then don't buy it. Spend the savings on a few games.

Depends on what games you want to play and how old they are. Most games old and recent should work well anyways, even on x64 unless it uses a 16-bit install program.

And go for Windows 7 Home Premium version. You don't need Professional or Ultimate unless you want the extra features like Windows XP Mode (Remember this is NOT compatibility mode, this is the Virtual Machine environment for business applications only), BitLocker or Multi-user Languages.

I own well over a hundred games, and every single one works fine in Win7. You don't need the business versions, you'll be hard pressed to find a game that doesn't work unless you mostly play retro.

hey UV which copy of windows 7 did you purchase?? is the 64bit system definately the way to go?

ive an asus rampage 2 on order with i7 920 @ 4 ghz with 6 gb ram also the 5870 when they get in stock

will be running anything new really plus oldest games i have are likes of il2 sturmovik and operation flashpoint and the like

Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit is the way to go. That's what I have and haven't had any problems with any games yet.

W7 64 bit ultimate installed last week
only game i had problems with was bf2 CTD but fine now after a few google fixes

Playing the latest games on Win7 Ultimate 64bit with no problems.

Only game that I've had a problem with is Cod4

hey guys cheers for replys, think ime gonna go for win 7 pro 64 bit anyway, hopefully this should fulfill all of my needs
