When starting PC everything starts fine until i get to the black Welcome screen in which will hang for around 30 seconds or so. Is this normal ?

Start Up progs are

Kaspersky AV
Acronis True Image
Rocketdock

thanks for any help.

there are 8 errors in Event Viewer from a cold start.

Have done a clean install on a new Hard Drive and reset my BIOS in case my overclock had anything to do with it but still takes an age to start.

Here is my restart time, with Kaspersky & Acronis starting up.

Possibly a service? I'd disable any Acronis/Kaspersky services completely, see how it goes. Also look for anything else that seems a bit out of place in the services list.

have tried on a completely fresh install with no AV or progs installed just the drives windows installs automatically

oh if it's doing it on a clean install i would point it towards hardware or configuration?

Gonna have to try the normal steps

reset bios to defaults...

check everything is seated on the motherboard

try taking out any non essential hardware (ie tv cards ect..)

run memory checks (try booting with one stick first off)

Was it bad on the Windows reinstall without anything installed?

yeah, getting about 74 secs with no progs installed

Ran a quick memtest with 2 passes on each stick with no errors :D

Also taken out my 4870 and put in my spare 2600xt card in which booted fairly quick so ran Restart-time and boom 56 secs, restarted again and back to 70 - 80 secs lol (didn't try the 2600 on my HD with progs on)

Gonna try another install on a WD drive with the 2600xt card ............ touches wood

cheers for the help too

sorry i can't shed anymore light on it, strange one, maybe try posting something in GH and see if anyone can suggest futher options, as with a clean install and nothing loaded it does point away from windows or proggies being the issue
