Hey everyone, very new and this is my first post. Looking at doing my first build in the summer, just not sure what type of Windows 7 to get. Home, Professional or Ultimate? Also is there a benefit buying the retail one or is it best just going for the OEM version? Working on a bit of a budget being a student and everything so looking at best value for money without losing out on any key features! Thanks!

Heres a chart of the differences ... http://windows.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows7/products/compare

OEM is cheaper but retail allows easier activation if your the sort of person that does a lot of hardware changing/reinstalling. You can also resell the retail version on once you've moved on to the next version of windows (assuming you dont buy an upgrade to next one)

It depends on what you'll use it for, if it's just gaming get home premium because the additional features of Proffesional or Ultimate won't make a difference to your gaming, apart from the ram limit

If you're waiting til the summer, I'd also consider running with the beta of Windows 8 for a few months before making a final decision.

If you like it you'll only end up paying for a Windows 8 license towards the back end of the year as opposed to paying for a Windows 7 license in the summer, then an upgrade.
