Windows 7 hits RC stage Build 7100

Installed 7100 on my media PC because I heard it works better with DVB-S, it does, and it means I can now receive BBC HD :D

Can you get BBC HD through freeview? I think my USB TV Tuner is HD compatible so I'd like to try it.

Also anyone play music with anything and have it showing on MSN? Does it work on build 7600?

It's on freesat, I use a floppydtv and satellite dish to receive it, can also receive Luxe HD, and with a bit of tinkering, ITV HD :)

Recorded Coast last night, 10GB for an hour program, ouch.

I'm slightly concerned about the integrity of the .iso I downloaded from Microsoft. Could anyone post the MD5 of their iso. The filename is:

7100.0.090421-1700_x64fre_client_en-us_retail_ultimate-grc1culxfrer_en_dvd

It is the latest x64 RC.

Thanks

Hashtab is great

I'm not sure if this is possible in Windows 7 but here goes

I have a music directory In this directory I have a bunch of albums. I want to view this folder as large icons, which I can achieve, If I open an album I want see a detailed list of attributes and I want thisapplied to every folder.

Is this possible?

Cyberlink MediaShow Espresso absolutely loves Windows 7 x64 (although I am sure it loves Vista too :p) fully quad core supported and GPGPU encoding supported and such a slick interface!

Also anyone noticed you can do this?

Hi I am downloading this from Microsoft just now, can I install it from within Vista and then remove the Vista partition afterwards? Don't like having to get writeable media and burn stuff off.

Also if worst comes to worst I can make use of Professional's system backup feature to backup the system state, nuke my E version then install full version and restore the backup!

RTM on technet/msdn is the exact same RTM as previously leaked/released so don't be expecting any changes at all.

I just need to get confirmation if the European market is going to get E version with ballot or just be given the full version as the rest of the world now and can only confim this once the EU approve or decline the MS offer!

Damn the waiting...

Edit,

CREATE A WINDOWS 7 SYSTEM REPAIR DISC!

Let me tell you a story too from 2 nights ago.

It was a dark but not stormy night, I was running clonezilla on my C drive to clone to a new 1TB F1 hdd but I decided to use the 1TB on something else later so cloned that to a 500GB Western Digital Black edition.

All was well but I realised that I now had 3x drives with the same OS, same drive signature and same boot loader so needed to cleanse the older 2 partitions and didn’t want to do it in Windows incase during boot I got complaints.

So I booted up using the XP SP3 CD as I knew I could delete partitions from that no problems.

Seems XP does not like playing ball with partitions on system disks because I removed the parts fine but it also removed the boot loader on the newly cloned drive!

I booted up with the 7 Repair disc I created the night before and it detected that the drive had a missing boot loader and asked if I wanted it to repair it so I did that and all was well.

Saved me a whole night of reinstalling that did and now I also have a system vhd image saved on external disk just incase I need to boot again and there’s something worse than missing boot loader :p

The Windows 7 (and Vista) OS Install Media will do this if you hit 'repair' instead of 'install'.
