Hi,

Did a fresh install of Windows 7 last night, put on a few drivers like sound and gfx, and went to load IE8 and the mouse cursor would just spin for a few seconds but not load.

In task manager I can see the process, x64 loads and works fine, but flash websites doesn't work on the x64 version.

Any ideas, had a quick google and other people have experienced it and they just said to use firefox

Thanks,

are you running any 3rd party AV/anti spyware /firewall software? i've seen a few random threads dotted about from IE8 users who have had problems until they tweak some settings or change program. sorry i can't be more specific though. :p

If you've got an ASUS Xonar sound card, then I've posted the fix in the Win 7 thread here.

It's not just IE that is affected but most 32-bit programs.

Definately an addon - I had a problem with Sophos AV that seems to break IE8 on certain configs.

Run with -noaddons (star / run / cmd then cd\ then cd program files then cd internet explorer then iexplore -noaddons) and then keep disabling the addons until you find which one is causing the hassle.

I had this bug and found that running the shortcut as Administrator allowed it to run, not sure how it's fixed though I just put XP64 back on.
