I have found out I can get windows 7 for free from my uni, however the only file type I can get online is the exe. file which is for the upgrade installation which for a new computer isn't much help. Any ideas for a good way to get the iso file for a complete installation on a new pc and use the product key I have without having to drive down to my uni and get a CD off them (its a 2.5 hour drive).

I assume using demonoid to get the iso and burning a CD would work and using my product key would be legal?

First, are you eligable to use it on a new install? Normally an upgrade requires a previous OS to upgrade from. Not sure how the Uni license works though.

In any case, you can probably download the Windows 7 ISO from Digital River. I don't have the exact link but it is free and safe [Digital River are a Microsoft reseller]. Your key should work with that disc/ISO.
