Windows 7 Logon hangs on "Welcome"

Almost at my wits end with this.

It seems to login INSTANTLY in safe mode, but still hangs on "Preparing Desktop" in normal mode (Or it just says "Welcome" without verbose login enabled). As it boots so quickly in safe mode, could this be some kind of driver issue?

Really have tried everything now..
 
Well, I finally bit the bullet and just decided on a fresh install today, Ewaf.

Needless to say I'm back on my desktop in seconds now...with no time for a cuppa while I wait :D

Still no real idea of the actual cause though, and obviously it's a pita to have to install everything again, but it's nice to have a snappy system again.

If you decide to stick at it, I hope you get it sorted soon :)
 
I think I'm gonna do the same thing! Just can't suss out the problem and getting annoyed now. Hopefully it won't happen again!
