I have installed this onto my Vista Media Centre PC today.

I am not so sure about the new menu fonts etc, but it is early days. I will have a proper play over the next few days and will post back.

My MCE system is only an AMD 3000+ 1.8Ghz with 1GB RAM. Vista MCE runs like a dog on this kit, with the hard drive light thrashing for England! On the same kit Windows 7 runs ten times as quick as Vista and yes we seem to be back to XP disk access days!

If anyone else is thinking of trying Windows 7 MCE, I am using a Hauppauge Nova-t model 99101 LF D995 with no major problems as of yet, using Vista Drivers.

I tried my Hauppauge HVR-4000 first and this just fails using the Vista Drivers.

^ Good question. I'd like to know this also as by all accounts, Vista MC support for HD users has been all but forgotten in favour of concentrating on Windows 7.

Windows 7 is going to support High Def out of the box as it supports H.264

Quote from Paul Thurrott:

"Microsoft's media player received a major makeover in Windows 7 with several new features, including enhanced DVD playback, a new lightweight playback mode, dramatically improved format compatibility (including AAC and H.264), Windows Taskbar Jump List customization, PC-to-PC and media streaming, and a new Play To feature."

As Media Centre uses the same engine that will too.

Can't wait! I wounder if Windows 7 will support new drivers like Windows Vista.
