Hi,

Im having a problem with an install of windows 7 that i was previously having with xp as well.

Most times i boot the pc, when it logs into windows my network connection is not working and i cannot access the internet until i disable it, then re-enable it again, after which it works fine.

Could anyone help point to a solution for this?
as its getting pretty annoying lol

For info, im not using seperate accounts, jsut logging on the main account every time.
There is also no anti virus running and im using the default windows firewall

I have been experiencing this as well. I switched the cable to my other onboard PCI-E gigabit card and the problem seems to have disappeared.

I think it's a driver bug.

just happened again so I guess I haven't fixed it :/ Happened with build 7077 and now in 7100 as well.

try re-booting your routers or modem,

I think its a packet saturation problem of sorts, has happened to me before, and havent had anything like it since i used to live in a shared house with a torrent freak lol.

He would be downloading loads and every now n then the router would lock up. Re-booting the router would sort it out.

It has happened to me in win7 also 7000, 7077 and 7100 router reboot sorted it.

Thanks Datamonkey and gurusan,

I live in a shared student house with 3 others, 2 of which are heavy torrenters, so this is probably the case.

Also i cannot change to the other network port as the p6t se only has the one.

If its driver related im hoping the release of the RC win 7 will bring some changes and at least spur realtek into making a better driver.

:)

So you boot up and log in and the network connection doesnt work?

Do you get an IP? Can you ping the router?

Could try manually setting the network connection speed, some issues can arise from the auto negotiation/detection that happens when PCs / Servers boot up.

I think i'm experiencing the same problem, using onboard Realtek LAN in Windows 7 the network will just lose connectivity and it NEVER used to do it before. It has only started happening since Windows 7.

I did think it could have been my cabling at first, but everything has been fine for so long so don't think it's that. Only happens though if i'm downloading off Newsgroups at full whack 20MBish, or transferring files via the network, it'll just pack up after a while which is quite annoying.

Hope this gets fixed by the time retail release comes around as it's mega annoying!

I wonder if this is a problem only with certain hardware. I used the beta version on my Dell Vostro and now have the 7100 build on there and it flawlessly connects to the network either on the wireless link when I switch that on or the RJ45 in the side. I'd say it works slightly better that Vista in this respect.

My install of Windows 7 is still on an older build ( 7047 or something ) and Ive had no issues with this either.

Ive got an Nvidia onboard adapter

Quite possibly, my drivers were installed automatically by Windows 7 so I guess Nvidia have given MS some drivers for Win7! Not sure if other manufacturers have done the same.

I tried to install Win 7 on an old Dell workstation and the Broadcom NIC was detected fine but the Intel video chip had no drivers lol

I think we are in the state when Vista first came out except I think I read only certified drivers could be used. If that's the case, we may have a wait for some manufacturers to get round to writing drivers.

So far as I was concerned. I just used the 'upgrade' path provided on the DVD and after a long wait could just go back to work with all my software working. (I'm on the 64 bit version by the way)
