Hi all,

Okay I've been having issues for months with networking windows 7 pc's and I've finally had enough and aim to sort this out once and for all.

My problem is this:

I have three devices, desktop, laptop and a netbook. They are all on the same workgroup (Tom Bedroom) and connected to the same router/switch with all IP settings to automatic.

Each device can see the others - good start. Now the laptop and netbook can connect to the desktop, enter the login info and then see the files. However when I view the laptop and netbook from the desktop and double click them to see the files, I get an error - 0x80070035 (Network path not found). This is very strange because I can ping the laptop and netbook fine from the desktop, just can't access the files, theres not even a login box.

Also: I can access the laptop and netbook IF I type in the IP address into the navigation bar in explorer....

So I'm guessing its something to do with the computer browser? Hell I don't know!

Any ideas?

Ta in advance, Tom

Have you connected them all to a Homegroup?

Just connect them all up to a Homegroup.

Control Panel > Homegroup.

Set one up on one pc, and join the other too it.

This is assuming all PC's are Win7

Tried them...

Hi there, sorry for the late reply

client option is enabled in the NIC properties and the only firewall I'm using is the standard windows one.

I don't have a homegroup because I have a different network at home where there is another homegroup and don't wish to start messing around with multiple ones.

Yes all pc's are on windows 7.

Thanks for your help
