Windows 7 OEM reinstall

I've just successfully installed Windows 10 on the old laptop.

As suggested above, I didn't need to install Windows 7 first, I just got the most recent version of Windows 10 using the media creation tool, put in my old Windows 7 OEM key and off it went. Installed, automatically activated etc.

I can't remember. I will try it again this week. See if it works. I vaguely remember something problematic about the letters at the end. OA or something like that, it had to be a specific OEM version and I couldn't get a ISO of it. I must try the MSDN downloads at work again.

I stand corrected. A MSDN ISO accepted the serial on the machine I have. I didn't validate it yet though. Just let it install 7. Must try the media creation tool next.
