I have off course read the recommended requirements however I wanted to ask if anyone had experience running Windows 7 off something similar to:

AMD Athlon 64 3200
1GB RAM
Plenty of HDD Space
ATI x800xl

Will it be slow? Is the RAM the only thing I should upgrade? Opinions?

Thanks :)

Should run it fine, but getting 2gb ram might be a good idea. Processor is fine, but I think Win 7 benefits quite a bit from multi-core processors.

If you can find a second hand Athlon X2 processor for dirt cheap then it might be worth it, but otherwise don't bother.

my old t43 ibm laptop runs it fine ,
its got 2 gig ram and 1.86 single core cpu
it will not run aero because the gpu is crap but your should be fine mate

Using Windows 7 Ultimate x64 on a dinky laptop for now.

Athlon 2650e 1.6Ghz single core
3GB RAM
200GB 7200RPM HDD
X1200 256MB (Integrated GPU using RAM for VRAM)
15" Screen 1280x800

Richochet J,

Microsoft does have an official Windows 7 Support Forum. It is supported by product specialists as well as engineers and support teams. You may want to check the threads available there for additional feedback.
