Hi something has screwed up my system.
even as administrator I get errors opening Outlook , dont have permissions to access *\user\data\outlook.pst etc, and cant lok into live messenger anymore, cant access or delete some documents, dont have acess,

All the above happend last night after using xbox360 and mediacentre.

I have tried to restore back to 9th September still have the same issue, googled the web to no answers, also each time i open IE after a few seconds i get a message about default search and have to make a choice, i have just left the one highlighted as default, java wants to update but after going through the update process it errors with a permissions problem.

anyone got any thoughts on a fix before i do a full re-install, or move to linux,

Thanks

Bowza

hope the above makes some sense

I have a similar problem with anything not installed on the same drive as Win7. Yours might be a different root cause but after a bit of googling about my problem I found a simple solution.

All I have to do is right click the drive and run chkdsk and it unlocks the drive and all the programmes run happily again.

Don't even have to let it finish, strange Win 7 bug that keeps locking up drives  but starting chkdsk releases them.

But maybe your problem is different entirely :(
