Windows 7 problem

Tried running a game (Law & Order) on windows 7. It installs OK but some of the music plays & not other. Also some people speak but not others. Not worried just interested to know why. Just seems odd.

Because it's an incomplete operating system. There are bound to be errors. My guess is your sound drivers may not be 100% compatible, so don't recognise some of the sound files.

Thanks for that. I quess it must be something like that. It's just that I could have understood it had been either the sound or vidio missing as I would have thought that all the sound and all the music would had the same format each.
Never mind, not important.

Apparently they are going straight to RC, no further BETA's, and a BETA is meant to be feature complete so if it doesn't work please file a bug report (don't know if this is done on MS Connect, or on the Windows 7 homepage).

it does sound like Audio driver issues, i had some strange ones with the windows 7 defaults - my headphone jack worked, but the inbuilt speakers on the laptop didn't.. the nice thing about windows 7, is you can just download and install most Vista drivers.. which i did .. and it works perfectly.

I have taken your advice and sent a bug report. I had already installed the latest Realtek Vista r_214 sound driver.

There have been quite a few beta releases since the "public" release - it's just most people can't get their hands on them.

Don't expect any further "public" beta releases - major problems will simply be patched out rather than a brand new release.

its not being rushed out, like people before mentioned its being updated as we speak, unlike previous versions of M$ Os', there are no Major releases in the beta schedule.. no "Beta 2, 3 etc" they are just constantly revising in small amounts and through live updates. so its not a rush out its actually just a more gradual process.

And yup it seems considerably better than vista overall - I personally liked vista and had little issues running the 64bit version (once all the drivers were properly released) but Windows 7 seems like Vista SP1 already (a bit snappier to navigate too).
